HolyScribe

Our privacy promise

What happens to your sermons, in plain words.

Last updated 2 November 2026

Your sermons live on your phone. Nothing leaves it unless you choose, and nothing is ever sold or shown to your church or pastor.

Kept on your phone

Listening and finding verses happen on the phone itself, without the internet.

What leaves your phone, and only when you choose

Writing your notes

When you ask for a sermon’s notes, its words (the transcript, not the recording) are sent to be written up in the cloud, then the notes come back to your phone. Photos you add of slides or a notebook are read the same way. We don’t keep these words or photos after the notes are written, apart from the finished notes, so you aren’t charged twice for the same sermon.

Power Scan

If you turn on Power Scan, the recording is sent in short pieces to be heard again more accurately. The pieces are used for that and not kept.

Ask

The first time you use Ask, you’re asked whether to keep your sermons’ words for it. If you say yes, the words (never the recordings) and your questions are kept so Ask can answer from them. You can delete your Ask conversations at any time, and a sermon you delete from the phone is forgotten by Ask too.

Your settings and Scrolls

A copy of your settings and your Scroll balance and receipts are kept with the server, so they aren’t lost. Your phone has its own private key with the server; we don’t ask for your name to use the app.

Help improve HolyScribe

Off unless you turn it on. When it’s on, only anonymous fixes to misheard words and how often verses are found are shared, never your recordings, notes or name.

Who does the work

Our servers and the AI that writes notes and answers Ask run on Cloudflare. When you buy Scrolls, the payment is handled by the payment provider (Google Play, or Paystack); we never see your card details.

What we never do

Deleting

Delete a sermon from the Library, or everything from Settings → Your data → Delete everything. To have what’s kept with the server removed (your Ask words and conversations, settings and Scroll history), write to us and we’ll delete it.

Children

HolyScribe is meant for people aged 13 and over.

Changes

If this promise changes, the new version will be here with its date, and the app will tell you about anything important before it applies.
